National Landscape Gateway signs

National Landscape Gateway signs

New signs denoting that Kingswear is a part of the South Devon National Landscape have been installed at the entry points to Kingswear parish. The new signs are partly thanks to grants from locality funds held by Cllr Jonathan Hawkins.

Cllr Hawkins said “Kingswear is proud to be in the National Landscape and this celebrates our beautiful and unique coastline and countryside; I was delighted to be able to assist.”

National Landscape Unit Manager Roger English commented “ National Landscape gateway signs are a great way of raising the profile of the protected landscape. With 46 National Landscapes covering just under 1/5th of the UK, they offer a wealth of opportunities for both people and wildlife to benefit from our countryside. And as vibrant, living landscapes, they underpin the economy and the health and wellbeing of our society. We are extremely grateful to Cllr Hawkins assistance in helping us to deliver this project. “

National Landscape Gateway signs have already been installed at Avonwick, Diptford, Holbeton, North Huish, Stoke Fleming, Strete, Slapton, and Wembury. Parishes who are interested in the signs are asked to contact the National Landscape Unit Tel: 01803 861384 or email [email protected]
