Malborough to Salcombe Estuary – explore the lanes or drop down to the estuary to visit the beaches at North and South Sands.

Wander out across the lanes and farmland to the east of the village, with fantastic views out over the Salcombe estuary.

Directions

    1. From village car park walk south along Collaton Road for approx 500 metres, passing Cumber Close on left, then turn left signed Collaton.
    2. Walk down the gentle slope to Higher Collaton Cross, then turn right down the hill to Higher Collaton house and thatched cottages.
    3. Continue along the road with bungalows on right, take second green lane on right signed Bridle Path to North Sands.
    4. Follow the green lane until you reach a metal gate with Public footpath sign on the right. Take this path.
    5. Continue on this path, following round to right at the end and then taking the next path on your left. This will take you right down to cliff road at North Sands. Follow the coast path round to South Sands.
      For the shorter route, hug the tree line on your right, then cross the field to the hedgebank. Follow the marked footpath across the field, over the first lane, and through kissing gates, to reach the lane on the far side. Turn right and rejoin the route at point 10.
    6. Take the footpath beside Harbour Beach Hotel, through the woods with the caravan site on your left.
    7. Follow De Courcey road to the junction, then turn left onto Moult Road
    8. Follow the footpath up through the woods until you meet the road.
    9. Turn right and follow the lane back up to join the route back to Malborough.
    10. Take the right fork. Follow this road until it bends to right. Here cross the stile on your left into the field, with the stream on your left.
    11. Follow the footpath across field, past water works, joining the lane towards Portlemore Barton.
    12. Follow the lane round to the right, passing the large farm house on left. At the next sharp right hand bend, join the path on your left, signed footpath to village.
    13. Follow this path all the way back up to the village to return to the start point.
