Malborough, Soar and Southdown farm walk – a walk full of amazing views and heritage.

Head out to the wild and rugged coastline around Soar – picturesque coves, reminders of past residents and stunning coastal views make this walk a real joy!

Directions

    1. Walk down Collaton lane, then right into Well Hill and onto Shute Hill.
    2. Take Portlemore Lane on your right and follow this to the road.
    3. Turn right, through the metal gate and walk up the hill,passing Furzedown Farm on the left to Soar Road.
    4. Turn left then take the footpath over the hedge on your right. Walk straight over the field to South Down Farm. To avoid the steps you can carry on down the lane and take the footpath on your right, following this across the fields.
    5. Follow the track through the farmyard and down towards the coast.
    6. Turn left and follow the path towards Soar Mill Cove.
    7. For the shortcut, turn left and follow the path back up past the Hotel to Higher Soar Hamlet. Otherwise follow the South West Coast Path up and over The Warren. Rejoin the route at point 12.
    8. Turn left inland at footpath heading towards West Soar Signal Station. then follow the field boundary on your right.
    9. Turn left through the gate and follow the path past Middle Soar Farm.
    10. Take the footpath on the left and follow this path across the field.
    11. Turn left then right and follow the path over the fields and back to Higher Soar.
    12. Turn left onto the road. After 500m (after Rew Junction) take the footpath retracing your route, back past Furzedown farm, to the village.
