Come and join the crew!\n  \nThis Life on the Edge meadow management session with Brixham Womens’ Conservation Group is the fourth in a series of conservation events taking place on the last Thursday of each month\, January – May. \n  \nOn this session we will be plug planting – planting some carefully chosen wildflowers to increase floristic diversity. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nJoin the Devon Wildlife Trust snorkel team for an underwater tour of stunning Wembury Bay!\n  \nDWT’s fully qualified BSAC Snorkel Instructors will cover basic snorkelling techniques\, followed by a guided snorkel around Wembury Bay’s famous rocky reefs\, searching for and identifying underwater marine life as we go! We always follow our Seashore Code ethos of enjoying and respecting marine life through observation without disturbing. \n  \nChanging time and an introductory talk in the Marine Centre is included in the 2.5 hour event time – we are usually in the water for around 1 hour. \n  \nImportant booking information \n\n\n\nBooking required – see Wembury Marine Centre website\nCancellation policy\n\nYou will be eligible for a refund if you cancel more than 7 days before the event\, but please note the Eventbrite booking fee will be deducted. Please request a refund via Eventbrite if you wish to cancel or email DWT. Any cancellation made within 7 days of the event is not eligible for a refund\nIf the event is cancelled by DWT due to severe weather\, you will receive a full refund\n\n\nSnorkelling equipment requires £20 cash deposit per person on the day\n\n\n\n\nKnow before you go\n\nSuitability\n\nChildren aged 8+ and adults\, including beginners who would like to learn how to snorkel\, or more advanced snorkellers who would enjoy the company of a group\nParents/guardians of children snorkelling must stay on the shore to meet them when they exit the water. If you would like to join your child in the water and experience our stunning underwater world\, then you will also need to purchase a ticket.\nAll participants must be competent swimmers\nSnorkelling in open water is an activity which requires general physical fitness and good health. Please contact DWT before booking if you/your child has a history of diabetes\, epilepsy (blackouts)\, perforated eardrums\, high blood pressure\, or any lung/respiratory disorder\, including previously testing positive for COVID-19. Printed copies of some information can be made available with advance notice. The event takes place in a popular public place but is not usually crowded once we start rockpooling. Flash photography may be used by staff and participants but is not usually noticeable in daylight. It’s a great way to explore your local coast\, learn more about the wildlife found there and add to our understanding of this important habitat. \n  \nYou will be trained to identify and record the marine life found on our local shores. The data collected by this project helps The Wildlife Trusts to monitor our fragile sea life and better understand the effects of pollution\, climate change and invasive alien species. \n  \nShoresearch data has been key to designating many of our Marine Conservation Zones. We always follow our Seashore Code ethos of enjoying and respecting marine life through observation without disturbing. \n  \nChanging time and an introductory talk in the Marine Centre is included in the 2.5 hour event time – we are usually in the water for around 1 hour. \n  \nImportant booking information \n\n\n\nBooking required – see Wembury Marine Centre website\nCancellation policy\n\nYou will be eligible for a refund if you cancel more than 7 days before the event\, but please note the Eventbrite booking fee will be deducted. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nJoin us for the latest in our series of walks aimed at helping you discover more about the South Devon National Landscape.\nThis will be a circular walk from Brownstone Car Park to Pudcombe Cove along the coastal path to Brownstone Battery then back inland past the Daymark to the carpark. This section of Maritime Cliff and Slope is home to a wealth of threatened invertebrates including some found in only a handful of places nationally like the Mediterranean Oil Beetle and Long Horned Bee. This site is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its unique vascular plant assemblage being home to Autumn Squill\, Toadflax-leaved St. John’s-wort\, Hairy Bird’s-foot Trefoil and Sea Storksbill. Join us to explore this wonderful corner of our landscape. \nThis is a moderate to strenuous walk of about 2.5 miles\, allowing time to stop and enjoy. There are relatively easy parts\, but with a steep decline to Pudcombe Cove on potentially uneven ground\, followed by an undulating coast path and a steep incline via Brownstone Battery back up to the carpark. There is ample parking at Brownstone (fee applies)\, but there are no toilets en route. \nBring a bottle of water\, a snack\, good footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nJoin the Devon Wildlife Trust snorkel team for an underwater tour of stunning Wembury Bay!\n  \nDWT’s fully qualified BSAC Snorkel Instructors will cover basic snorkelling techniques\, followed by a guided snorkel around Wembury Bay’s famous rocky reefs\, searching for and identifying underwater marine life as we go! We always follow our Seashore Code ethos of enjoying and respecting marine life through observation without disturbing. \n  \nChanging time and an introductory talk in the Marine Centre is included in the 2.5 hour event time – we are usually in the water for around 1 hour. \n  \nImportant booking information \n\n\n\nBooking required – see Wembury Marine Centre website\nCancellation policy\n\nYou will be eligible for a refund if you cancel more than 7 days before the event\, but please note the Eventbrite booking fee will be deducted. Please request a refund via Eventbrite if you wish to cancel or email DWT. Any cancellation made within 7 days of the event is not eligible for a refund\nIf the event is cancelled by DWT due to severe weather\, you will receive a full refund\n\n\nSnorkelling equipment requires £20 cash deposit per person on the day\n\n\n\n\nKnow before you go\n\nSuitability\n\nChildren aged 8+ and adults\, including beginners who would like to learn how to snorkel\, or more advanced snorkellers who would enjoy the company of a group\nParents/guardians of children snorkelling must stay on the shore to meet them when they exit the water. If you would like to join your child in the water and experience our stunning underwater world\, then you will also need to purchase a ticket.\nAll participants must be competent swimmers\nSnorkelling in open water is an activity which requires general physical fitness and good health. Please contact DWT before booking if you/your child has a history of diabetes\, epilepsy (blackouts)\, perforated eardrums\, high blood pressure\, or any lung/respiratory disorder\, including previously testing positive for COVID-19. You will need to complete and sign a medical disclaimer to this effect before the event\n\n\nDogs\n\nNo dogs permitted\n\n\nWhat to bring\n\nFull kit can be provided and is included in the cost\, but a £20 cash deposit per person is required on the day\, which will be returned provided no kit is lost or damaged.\nIf you plan to bring your own gear\, then we recommend a 5mm full length wetsuit and separate snorkel and mask (not a full face snorkel)\nBeach shoes/wetsuit boots (not crocs)\nSwimming shorts/costumes & rash vest (if you have one)\nTowel\nWarm clothing for after snorkelling\nSnacks and drinks as necessary\nAny medication (please make staff aware beforehand)\n\n\nMobility\n\nYou must be a competent swimmer\n\n\nWheelchair access\n\nNo\n\n\n Parking\n\nNational Trust car parking charges apply at Wembury Beach car park (Coins or pay by phone).
