SUMMARY:Life on the Edge Walks Series (13) – Spring Birds (Berry Head)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nJoin us for the latest in our series of walks aimed at helping you discover more about the South Devon National Landscape.\nTake a moment to enjoy the joyful spring sounds. As spring gets into full swing\, our April bird walk\, landing just a few days before International Dawn Chorus Day\, will all be about listening to the melodic sounds of the countryside. Contained around Berry Head National Nature Reserve we will be using the predominantly surfaced footpath network\, including short sections of the South West Coast Path. We will walk along hedgerows and through areas of Devon important Calcareous grassland\, taking time to pause\, look and listen to what birds we can identify. We hope to see resident birds such as Stonechat\, Yellowhammer\, and hopefully the South Devon specialist\, the Cirl bunting. \nThis will be a slightly shorter circular walk of approximately 2 miles to allow plenty of time for stopping and spotting\, and although it will include some small inclines\, is an ‘easy’ grade walk.  Toilets are available at the Guardhouse Cafe. Meeting point for this walk will be Berry Head Nature Reserve carpark (fees apply). \nIf you have them\, please bring a pair of binoculars. For everyone\, make sure you bring a bottle of water\, a snack\, good footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. \nWe are running a 7 and a 9-seater van for people who don’t have their own transport\, with pick-ups at Follaton Arboretum\, Totnes (by wooden sign) at 07:05\, and Paignton Asda (adjacent to main entrance) at 07:30. \nImportant booking information \n\nFree event\nPre-booking essential via TicketSource\, click on ticket image below. Note that there is a separate option to book transport.\n\n\n \nWe are unable to carry dogs in these leased vehicle\, sorry. \nLife on the Edge is a Heritage Lottery funded project of South Devon National Landscape – www.southdevon-nl.org.uk \n  \n  \n \nThanks to National Lottery players \n     \n  \n  \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
