Avon Estuary – mudflats and saltmarsh

 

Join South Devon National Landscape’s Estuary Officer Nigel Mortimer, a marine biologist, for stroll down along the Avon Estuary tidal road – discovering and discussing what makes estuaries so special and why we need to conserve them.

We’ll have a special look at the mudflats and saltmarshes, the wildlife communities that they support and what they do for us all.

Know before you go

  • Dogs
    • Well behaved dogs on short leads are welcome
  • Suitability
    • Much of the walk is along the tidal road so road traffic is to be expected
  •  Mobility
    • Easy level walking along tidal tarmacked road – 3km
  • What to bring
    • Dress for the weather (or dress for worse than forecast weather – better to be prepared!)
    • Wear supportive, sturdy footwear that can get wet/muddy
    • Binoculars if you have them
    • Water (and snacks if required)
