Rockpooling – North Sands Salcombe
Join South Devon National Landscape’s Estuary Officer Nigel Mortimer to explore the rocky shores of North Sands over one of the lowest predicted tides of the year, and discover the rich intertidal marine life found in the remaining pools and crevices.

Know before you go
- Dogs
- No dogs – unfortunately, rockpooling is not considered a dog friendly activity.
- Mobility
- Short walk over the beach and then onto, and over, uneven & some seaweed covered rocks to explore the rockpools and ‘under boulder’ life.
- Wheelchair access

- What to bring
- Please dress for the weather (or dress for worse than forecast weather – better to be prepared!)
- Wear supportive, sturdy footwear that can get wet
- Bring water (and snacks if required)
- Please DO NOT bring nets and anything you can’t afford to drop onto a rock or into saltwater
